STORM Youth Ministry is continuing a fundraiser to raise money for our Youth Ministry Mission Trips this summer.  Participants are available to do odd jobs for a donation to our trips.  This could include raking leaves, landscaping work, mowing the lawn, painting or shoveling snow.  It could be a one time work project or ongoing.  If you can give us at least one week notice that would be appreciated, or if it is ongoing, try to set it up ahead of time.  All donations are then made payable to the St. Scholastica STORM Youth Ministry.  Please contact Jennifer at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-885-6439 to set up work projects.

I am attaching the brochure, application and the outline of what we talked about at the Info Meetings.  If you weren't at the meetings and want more specific info, please call me.  The cost is included in the brochure, but we are considering running the trip ourselves which will reduce the cost significantly. We will also be fundraising and had many teens and young adults that were able to fundraise a large part of their trip the last time we went to WYD and our Italy Pilgrimage. We will do some group and individual fundraising. We need to start fundraising soon, which is why we need to know who is going! We need to know who is going by May 15 so we can make reservations and start fundraising.

The Jubilee for Youth will be a lifechanging trip that will include going through the Holy Doors of the Pilgrim Churches in Rome, seeing the Pope and having Mass with him, spending time learning more about our faith, and pilgrimages to Assisi and Medjugorje. In Medjugorje, there will be a Youth Festival as well and we will learn about the appearances of Mary and hear from the visionaries. We will also travel to Dubrovnik at the end for some relaxation. The Jubilee for Youth is a pilgrimage of faith when the Holy Father calls his youth to himself for six days of prayer, meditation, and instruction.  With this are also much sightseeing, cultural experiences, and the opportunity to interact with Catholic youth from all over the world.  The Jubilee will bring together Catholic youth from over 150 countries to learn about their faith and celebrate it.  It is characterized by the happiness of youth being with the Pope and with each other.  At Jubilee 2025, participants will learn how Italian Catholics live their faith and also experience life in their country.  Although this trip should be fun for the participants, please be aware that it is a Pilgrimage, not a vacation.  The main focus of the trip is the spiritual aspect.  is a pilgrimage of faith when the Holy Father calls his youth to himself for six days of prayer, meditation, and instruction. Permission slips for the Fall Retreat can be turned in and are due by September 29.  The Fall Retreat will take place at St. Scholastica beginning Saturday, October 26 at 12 pm and ending Sunday, October 27 at 6:30 pm.  This Retreat gives teens the opportunity to better get to know the other participants and adults, and to get away from the stresses of life for the weekend. The theme of the retreat is “It's Cool to be Catholic” and our teen and adult leaders will be sharing what they love about being Catholic and how they strive to be Disciples in their lives.  There will be great discussions and, of course, great fun. The permission slips are BRIGHT PINK and are available on the rack in the back of church and in the Parish Office. They can be turned in to the S.T.O.R.M. Meeting, or dropped off at the Parish Office. The retreat is open to all 8th Graders and High School Teens.

Permission slips for the Haunted Cornmaze Event are also due by September 29. The event will take place at Heaps Farm on Sunday, October 8 and the permission slips are bright orange. The fee of $33 includes the Haunted Cornmaze, a Flashlight Cornmaze, a Moonlight Hayride, a bonfire with hot dogs and S'Mores, and the bus. If teens want to skip the Haunted Cornmaze, it costs less. This event is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders and all High School teens. Please reach out to Jennifer if you would like to chaperone.

Holy Fire will take place on Saturday, November 2 and it is an amazing opportunity for Middle School students to deepen their faith! There are great speakers including our own Bishop Hicks, fun music, a magician, Adoration and Mass with Cardinal Blaze Cupich. Permission forms are DUE by September 29!

On Saturday, November 23 we are going to participate in a Service Day to Our Lady of the Angels Mission in Chicago. We will be helping them to distribute Thanksgiving Turkeys and Food to 1200 families. We will also have time for prayer. Permission forms are due by Sunday, October 6.

Unleashed is a night where kids can go Deeper in their faith. This year we will be praying the Rosary and watching The Chosen TV Show about the life of Jesus and His Disciples, and discussing it. It takes place on Wednesday nights. We hope you will join us!

Parents should register their teens for STORM Youth Ministry at this Google Form. You only need to register once per school year. There is no cost to participate in the Sunday and Wednesday Meetings: https://forms.gle/xizLGuXQLM2WSJ2L7
