Need Help?

STORM Youth Ministry is continuing a fundraiser to raise money for our Youth Ministry Mission Trips this summer.  Participants are available to do odd jobs for a donation to our trips.  This could include raking leaves, landscaping work, mowing the lawn, painting or shoveling snow.  It could be a one time work project or ongoing.  If you can give us at least one week notice that would be appreciated, or if it is ongoing, try to set it up ahead of time.  All donations are then made payable to the St. Scholastica STORM Youth Ministry.  Please contact Jennifer at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-885-6439 to set up work projects.

DISCOVERY RETREAT IS COMING!

St. Scholastica is hosting our 22nd and 23rd DISCOVERY Retreats here at St. Scholastica the weekends of January 18-19 and April 18-19.  This is our Confirmation Retreat, so all 8th Graders will attend, but it is also open to 8th Graders & high school students who have not experienced one before.  It will be held here at St. Scholastica in the Parish Center.  The retreat is run by the high school Discovery Team and they serve as Directors, small group leaders, and witness speakers.  The participants will spend the weekend getting to know each other, the retreat team and God.  It’s a chance for you to “discover” something new about your life and your relationships.  There will be witness talks, group activities, time for reflection, and free time to relax or hang out with friends.  The themes of the Discovery Retreats, based on the readings of the weekend, are: “I Am Made Glorious in the Sight of the Lord,” and “As the Father Has Sent Me, So I Send You.”  The teens will learn how God wants to be part of their life and they will have the opportunity to build relationships in a Christian community.  It is a chance for them to realize Christ’s love for them.  Anyone who has any questions or would like to learn more about this weekend can call or e-mail Jennifer.  Permission forms can be found with a bright green tri-folded brochure in the rack in the back of church.  They are DUE by December 8.

Each summer we go on a week long Mission Trip with the High School Teens and it is an amazing, life changing experience.  We want to encourage all high school teens to sign up for the Mission Trip this summer!  This year the trip will take place June 21-26 to Detroit, Michigan with Young Neighbors In Action!  There is service each day, great morning and evening programs including culture night, recreation night, prayer and Adoration.  Most kids think they are going to give back to others, but find that they receive so much more than they give.  Our group usually has over 20 people attending.  I hope your teen will join us!

Join Us For A Three Day WINTER RETREAT!

S.T.O.R.M. Youth Ministry is hosting a Retreat at Five Pines Retreat Center in Berrien Center, Michigan from Friday, February 28th at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  Retreats are just a real fun way to get away from school, home, and all the other stresses in your life.  For one weekend, you leave all your worries behind and learn about God and all of his love.  Your relationship with God grows and you learn a better understanding about what being a Christian is all about.  It gives you a perspective on what is really important in life.  When you come back, you feel relieved and like you can conquer anything that is thrown your way.  The theme of this retreat is “Get An Attitude: The Beatitudes” and our teen leaders will be sharing their experiences with how we can live the Beatitudes in our everyday lives.  There will be great discussions and, of course, great fun.  The Retreat Center has a tubing hill and Cross Country Skiing if there is snow and offers a beautiful backdrop for our weekend.  Permission slips and information sheets are available on the rack in the back of church and in the Parish Office.  The permission slips are bright pink and are due by Sunday, January 26, 2020.  They can be turned in at the S.T.O.R.M. Meeting, or dropped off at the Parish Office.  For more information please call Jennifer in the Youth Ministry Office at 630-985-2351x138.
