Need Help?

The STORM Youth Group is having a fundraiser to raise money for our Youth Ministry Mission Trips this summer. Participants are available to do odd jobs for a donation to our trips. This could include raking leaves, landscaping work, mowing the lawn, painting or shoveling snow. It could be a one time work project or ongoing. If you can give us at least one week notice that would be appreciated, or if it is ongoing, try to set it up ahead of time. All donations are then made payable to the St. Scholastica STORM Youth Group.  Please contact Jennifer at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-985-2351x138 to set up work projects.

Holy Fire Conference for 6th, 7th and 8th Graders

Holy Fire is a conference on Saturday, October 27 from 8 am-3:30 pm featuring nationally known speakers. As a community, youth come together and they are challenged to participate in activities centered around prayer, witness and joy that perpetuate the concept of becoming missionary disciples who are not afraid to witness the faith. Ultimately, Holy Fire helps young people to see themselves as witnesses of Christ and members of a young Church.  This year’s conference features Paul J. Kim, Noelle Garcia, Josh Blakesley Band, Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers and Mass with Cardinal Blaze Cupich.  The early bird price is $35 if you have the permission form and money in by Sunday, September 30.  We went to this event last year and it was amazing!  Please contact Jennifer for more info at 630-885-6439.

Chicago Street Ministry Experience

On Sunday, December 23, 2018, S.T.O.R.M. Youth Ministry will be hosting a trip to downtown Chicago.  We will meet at Belmont Station at 8:15 am.  We will take the train downtown and go to Mass at St. Peter’s in the Loop.  We will be passing out bag lunches to the homeless on Lower Wacker Drive.  Afterward, we will walk to Water Tower Place on North Michigan Avenue and we will go look at the windows on State Street.  Teens do have some time on their own in the Daley Plaza area at the Christkindlmarket.  Anyone interested in attending must have a permission slip, which is available on the rack in the back of church and in the Parish Office.  Permission slips are due by Sunday, December 2nd.  Times and cost information is on the permission form.  Attendance will be limited based on how many chaperones we have.  If any adults would be interested in attending, please contact Jennifer at 630-985-2351x138.

March for Life—Chicago & Youth Rally

STORM Youth ministry will be participating in the Chicago March for Life and the Youth Rally on Sunday, January 13.  We will be departing from St. Scholastica at 8 am and going to the Youth Rally with keynote speaker and singer Steve Angrisano (he is one of my favorite speakers and was with us at Steubenville this summer) and Mass at Holy Name Cathedral with Cardinal Blaze Cupich.  Then we will be walking over to Federal Plaza for the March and the Rally.  Between the Youth Rally and the March we will go out for lunch.  We will most likely return by around 5 pm.  Permission slips are due by Sunday, December 9!  The cost is only $10 and that includes transportation.  Contact Jennifer at 630-885-6439 or youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org if you would like more information.
