Need Help?

The STORM Youth Group is having a fundraiser to raise money for our Youth Ministry Mission Trips this summer. Participants are available to do odd jobs for a donation to our trips. This could include raking leaves, landscaping work, mowing the lawn, painting or shoveling snow. It could be a one time work project or ongoing. If you can give us at least one week notice that would be appreciated, or if it is ongoing, try to set it up ahead of time. All donations are then made payable to the St. Scholastica STORM Youth Group.  Please contact Jennifer at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-985-2351x138 to set up work projects.

Mission Trip Blog

We have a blog for our 2017 Mission Trip that we will be updating with reflections and pictures throughout our trip: https://stormymblog.wordpress.com/  You can also see posts from World Youth Day and last years Mission Trip.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers!

S.T.O.R.M. YOUTH MINISTRY will be meeting tonight, Sunday, December 3rd from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the St. Scholastica Parish complex.  Tonight we will be participating in a special kind of Adoration prayer service.  This is called XLT and it includes Praise and Worship music, a witness talk, and Adoration.  After prayer we will have some social time with Fort Dodge Ball.  We hope that you can join us.  If you have never experienced Adoration, it is a holy experience of being in the real presence of Jesus.  This is a great way to celebrate Advent.  All high school youth of the parish are invited to attend and NEW MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME to come and see what the meetings are like.  If you would like additional information, please call the Youth Ministry Office at 630-985-2351x138 or e-mail them at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org.  Join a youth community that really cares about you and wants you to be involved!  Join S.T.O.R.M. and INVITE YOUR FRIENDS (and get points)!

P.S.  The Teen Music Ministry will practice before the meeting, from 5:45 - 6:30 p.m. tonight with Carrie Marcotte and then play at the Adoration Service.  All are invited to join us.

Next Sunday, December 10th  we will be having a S.T.O.R.M. Christmas Party!  This meeting will start earlier, at 5:30 p.m.  All high school youth of the parish are invited to attend.  8th Graders are asked to bring a cold case of juice or water, Freshmen are asked to bring cookies or other desert to share, Juniors are asked to bring an appetizer and Sophomores and Seniors are asked to bring a hot appetizer.  Everyone is asked to bring a “White Elephant” gift.  This is a gift for a grab bag game.  It could be something around the house that you don’t want anymore, but is in usable condition.  This could be something funny or practical.  It could also be something small that you buy (no more than $5).  You should wrap whatever you bring so that it is not identifiable from the outside.  You are encouraged to bring more than one gift.  Be creative.  This can be a fun game, because people bring such outrageous things.  We will be playing games and eating.  Then at 7 p.m. we will attend the Christmas Concert, where our Teen Choir will perform with the other choirs.

The cost is only $10 and that includes transportation.  You will need to bring a bag lunch.  Contact Jennifer at 630-885-6439 or youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org if you would like more information!

Join Us For A Three Day RETREAT!

S.T.O.R.M. Youth Ministry is hosting a Retreat at Five Pines Retreat Center in Berrien Center, Michigan from Friday, February 16th at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.  Retreats are just a real fun way to get away from school, home, and all the other stresses in your life.  For one weekend, you leave all your worries behind and learn about God and all of his love.  Your relationship with God grows and you learn a better understanding about what being a Christian is all about.  It gives you a perspective on what is really important in life.  When you come back, you feel relieved and like you can conquer anything that is thrown your way.  The theme of this retreat is “Tell Me a Story: Parables” and our teen leaders will be sharing how they have experienced the parables in their lives.  There will be great discussions and, of course, great fun.  The Retreat Center has a tubing hill and Cross Country Skiing if there is snow and offers a beautiful backdrop for our weekend.  Permission slips and information sheets are available on the rack in the back of church and in the Parish Office.  The permission slips are bright pink and are due by Sunday, January 21, 2018.  They can be turned in at the S.T.O.R.M. Meeting, or dropped off at the Parish Office.  For more information please call Jennifer in the Youth Ministry Office at 630-985-2351x138.
