Need Help?

STORM Youth Ministry is continuing a fundraiser to raise money for our Youth Ministry Mission Trips this summer.  Participants are available to do odd jobs for a donation to our trips.  This could include raking leaves, landscaping work, mowing the lawn, painting or shoveling snow.  It could be a one time work project or ongoing.  If you can give us at least one week notice that would be appreciated, or if it is ongoing, try to set it up ahead of time.  All donations are then made payable to the St. Scholastica STORM Youth Ministry.  Please contact Jennifer at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-885-6439 to set up work projects.

Each summer we go on a week long Mission Trip with the High School Teens and it is an amazing, life changing experience.  We want to encourage all high school teens to sign up for the Mission Trip this summer!  This year the trip will take place June 21-26 to Detroit, Michigan with Young Neighbors In Action!  There is service each day, great morning and evening programs including culture night, recreation night, prayer and Adoration.  Most kids think they are going to give back to others, but find that they receive so much more than they give.  Our group usually has over 20 people attending.  I hope your teen will join us!

We will be having a Teen Mass NEXT Sunday, February 2nd at 12:00 pm. The teens will participate in the Liturgical Ministries including Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Greeters, Ushers, the Presentation of Gifts, and the Teen Choir.  If you have a part I the Mass, or would like one, please arrive at 11:30 am and Dress Nicely.  We will be having more Teen Masses throughout the year.  If anyone is interested in participating in the Teen Choir, or other Liturgical Ministries, please contact Jennifer.

Join Us For A Three Day WINTER RETREAT!

S.T.O.R.M. Youth Ministry is hosting a Retreat at Five Pines Retreat Center in Berrien Center, Michigan from Friday, February 28th at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.  Retreats are just a real fun way to get away from school, home, and all the other stresses in your life.  For one weekend, you leave all your worries behind and learn about God and all of his love.  Your relationship with God grows and you learn a better understanding about what being a Christian is all about.  It gives you a perspective on what is really important in life.  When you come back, you feel relieved and like you can conquer anything that is thrown your way.  The theme of this retreat is “Get An Attitude: The Beatitudes” and our teen leaders will be sharing their experiences with how we can live the Beatitudes in our everyday lives.  There will be great discussions and, of course, great fun.  The Retreat Center has a tubing hill and Cross Country Skiing if there is snow and offers a beautiful backdrop for our weekend.  Permission slips and information sheets are available on the rack in the back of church and in the Parish Office.  The permission slips are bright pink and are due by Sunday, January 26, 2020.  They can be turned in at the S.T.O.R.M. Meeting, or dropped off at the Parish Office.  For more information please call Jennifer in the Youth Ministry Office at 630-985-2351x138.

We will be having an Adult Parish Trivia Night Fundraiser on Saturday, February 1st to raise funds for our Mission Trip & Steubenville Conference!  Are you great at trivia? Do you enjoy the thrill of competition? Or are you just looking for something to do on a Saturday night? Doors will open at 5:30 pm and the Trivia Competition will begin at 6 pm.  Grab a few friends (18 & Up) and join us for this Trivia Night.  There will be 7 rounds of 10 questions about general knowledge where you will work to outsmart your competition.  The winning table will win a cash prize and 2nd Place prizes.  There will be other ways to win including a 50/50 Raffle & Intermission Games.  If you have never been to a Trivia Night, you are missing out!  The questions are not “church” related, they are based on sports, history, pop culture, etc.  Get a table of up to 8 together and join us!  Tickets will be on sale after all Masses in the weekends leading up to the event and in the Parish Office.  For more information and to register, please contact Jennifer Olson at youthministry@stscholasticaparish.org or 630-885-6439.  You can also complete this google form: https://forms.gle/MSXD4TPJ11r5yN419  This will be a fun event for those 18 and up, so save the date!!!
